Expectations

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with ITDRC!

Before we begin, we want to outline expectations for volunteers to ensure that you're a good fit.

Disaster Technology is not a passive spectator sport; it requires significant resources, coordination, and commitment from our members and partners.

ITDRC expects our members to be fully engaged, properly trained, and ready, willing, and able to help a community on their worst day. In order to ensure our team members are committed to our mission, new volunteers must fully complete all onboarding tasks outlined in the volunteer portal, and become deployable within 60 days of registration.

This includes:

  • Completing ITDRC-100
  • Completing FEMA IS-100
  • Completing FEMA IS-700
  • Signing ITDRC's Code of Conduct
  • Signing ITDRC's Release and Waiver of Liability
  • Completing a Level 1 Background Check with Sterling Volunteers

New volunteers who fail to fully complete the onboarding process within 60 days will be dismissed from the organization; and may reapply after 1 year.

In addition to the training and administrative requirements to maintain a deployable status, volunteers must demonstrate continuous engagement and learning through one of the following modalities each month:

  • Attending a monthly ITDRC “All Hands” Training (Online)
  • Attending a monthly ITDRC State or Regional Meeting (Online)
  • Attending a scheduled VOAD or RECCWG meeting
  • Participation in an EM sanctioned Training or Exercise event
  • Completion of a course in ITDRC Training
  • ITDRC sanctioned event (ex. Regional trailer maintenance or training)
  • Remote Deployment, including ESR development, special projects, etc
  • Field Deployment

Volunteers who fail to meet the above requirements will have 30 days to get back into compliance. If compliance is not achieved, the volunteer will be placed into a “Reserve” status and encounter limited or restricted access to internal systems and resources.

If you have made it this far, and believe you can adhere to the engagement requirements, please continue completing this form. The next few screens will capture basic information, acceptance of our Code of Conduct, completion of a Release and Waiver of Liability, and finally direct you to our partner Sterling Volunteers to complete your background check.

Note: Volunteer applications are processed weekly, and will only be processed if we can match a registration from this form to a valid background check.
